At first, out of corner of my eye my brain went “Subie!” then I looked:
I still would bet they vape.

Clearly that’s a Nissan GT-R

Yeah, forgot to mention that, it’s actually tastefully done.

Throwback to the 1960-65 Impala - I’d vote on Nissan being the copycat in this case.

That’s where my head wants to go, but when i look at it, it’s just not that bad! It’s tastefully done.

Haha when I was a kid and didn’t know what the new Impala looked like, I was like omg dad! It’s a GTR! Then we got closer. I still thought it was real fuckin cool. I hadn’t learned about the finer things in life yet, such as longitudinal vs transverse, it simply looked cool to me when it first came out. It was probably all in the tail lights.

At the end of the day they copied circular taillights and not much else, but I get your line of reasoning.

I have a thing about GM products from this era. Aside from the 2nd-gen Cavalier (*shudders*), the cars of this era generally look... good? if a bit dull, but i think that lends to longevity (spicy-looking cars tend to not age well, looks-wise). GM products of this era are also, generally, hot fucking garbage.
I remember when this generation of the Impala came out, i thou ght it looked good. I still do. Wouldn’t touch one w/ a ten-foot pole, but I’m glad other people are still using them.

GM products of this era tend to be pretty indestructible , especially in 3800 form.

Wish I still had the pic of the one running around here. It’s bright yellow, with a body kit, huge wing, FnF graphic on the sides, and painted hub caps.

I think before Dexcool was introduced, you’re generally correct. After Dexcool, gaskets became problematic.
A Chevy of this era will run like shit longer than most cars will run. Everything falls apart around the still-beating engine.

Intake gaskets were a thing, but a simple replacement using quality parts pretty much cures it for life.
I mean most modern vehicles have more issues than that....

Sadly I didn’t hate it as much as I should have..

Haha I have a soft spot for FnF style cars, just because it’s what got me into cars in the first place. Maybe not the very first thing, but it definitely amplified my enthusiasm.

I’d already been into cars and wrenching for a while before the movies came out. We had fun laughing about all the things they blatantly did wrong.
Regardless, I still found the first one fun.
